A Woodlawn High School teacher has been arrested following an investigation into allegations that he showed inappropriate images to a 15-year-old student, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.

The investigation began on August 25, 2026, after the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office was notified of suspected inappropriate communication from a teacher, Demetric A. Preston, 28, to a student at Woodlawn High School. The 15-year-old student reported to school officials that Preston had shown them nude images of himself during the first week of school.

Investigators collected statements related to the allegations and seized Preston's cellular phone as evidence. After further investigation, it was determined that Preston had committed the crime of indecent behavior with juveniles. Investigators subsequently arrested him and transported him to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on the aforementioned charge.

During the investigation, the Caddo Parish School Board placed Preston on leave and removed him from the classroom. The investigation is still ongoing.
