CPSO Investigates Child Abuse Incident involving a Vivian Police Officer
On May 23, 2026, detectives from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a report from North Caddo Medical Center regarding an injured one-year-old child.
Upon arrival, detectives observed that the child had multiple injuries, including a large handprint-shaped bruise on the back, a bite mark on the lower right leg, and bruising around both eyes.
The child's mother reported that the child had been in the care of his biological father, Christian Hill, a police officer with the Vivian Police Department, and Hill's girlfriend, Ashlee West. The mother stated that she was informed the child received a "whooping" after biting West, who allegedly bit the child back. Additionally, the mother noted that neither adult sought medical attention for the child nor notified her of the injuries.
During the investigation, both Hill and West were advised of their Miranda rights and agreed to provide statements to detectives.
Hill admitted to striking the child and causing the bruising to the child's back. West admitted to biting the child and stated the bruising around the child's eyes may have resulted from falls from a bed or multiple falls while the child was in her care.
Detectives arrested Christian Hill on one count of Cruelty to Juveniles. Ashlee West was charged with two counts of Cruelty to Juveniles. They were transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where they were booked on the aforementioned charges.
