Facebook user arrested for failure to register as a sex offender
A Shreveport man who thought he was setting up a meeting with a juvenile girl was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.
Christopher Lee Walker, 32, set up a Facebook account using the name “John Cameron” and had conversations with a Caddo deputy he believed was a 14-year-old girl. Walker sent a photo of himself to the deputy’s assumed identity and agreed to meet “her” at a local store. Sheriff’s Detectives Jared Marshall and James Moore were waiting at the store and took Walker into custody.
During the investigation it was determined that as a previously convicted sex offender, Walker had not completed the proper notifications on his sex offender registration packet indicating that he created and maintained a social networking account. He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for failure to register as a sex offender. His bond was set at $75,000. This is the second time since his conviction in 2001 that Walker has failed to fully register as required by law.
